How did you get the idea for Vertere Berlin?
Uli: The brand stands for contemporary fashion and streetwear hailing from the electronic music scene. We have been DJing, promoting parties, and hosting small festivals for many years. Since we also worked in fashion for more than ten years we figured to combine both elements.
We can still remember when we first talked about the idea on a festival stage at Garbicz Festival around 2017.
What's the philosophy of Vertere Berlin?
Jonas: We want to cultivate an inclusive and approachable brand community. We want to give the electronic music scene a voice and home in fashion. We also want it to be accessible for everybody who is interested in techno, house music, Berlin and fashion. It's important for us to show the fun side of the scene and not be too serious about dress codes, etiquettes, etc. We represent an anything-goes-mentality. Approachable by everyone.
Where do you produce your products?
Jonas: Most of our products are produced by manufacturers in Europe. This creates a lot of transparency and reduces co2 emissions due to shorter transportation routes. Our main producer is based in Istanbul but we also work with other suppliers in Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic and even Germany.
What's your personal backgrounds?
Uli: I'm born in Berlin and have been DJing and producing music for more than 10 years. I'm currently DJing and releasing music under the alias Basic Instinct. I met Jonas in 2014 after he came back from different fashion projects in Melbourne and Tokyo. We started shaping our vision about events, music and fashion since then.
